Sailing courses

We organise sailing courses for adults and teenagers in Nuottaniemi. You can start sailing at any age! We use Laser dinghies with a radial rig, Zoom8s and, depending on the course, also 606s with a crew of three. The course target is to teach the basics of sailing with a Laser or Zoom8. After the course, you can start sailing regularly at our club. We also tailor dinghy courses to companies and organisations.

Dinghy course

For whom

The course is intended for youngsters and adults interested in dinghy sailing. We use Laser dinghies with a radial rig. Participants must be able to swim, because it is not unheard of for dinghy sailors to fall into the sea.

What you will learn

During the beginner’s course, you will learn the basics, such as getting your boat ready for sailing, starting off from the shore, the basics skills of sailing, and returning to shore.

What’s included in the course?

The course takes two days. We’re on the water in the morning and afternoon, coming ashore in between for a short lunch break (provided by the participants themselves). We use Lasers and Zoom8s on the course.

Schedule:

Sunday: from 9 am until 4 pm

Each course has 2 instructors. Instructors have passed the Finnish Sailing and Boating Federation’s boating course.

On sailing camps, participants that are not EPS members must have their own sailing equipment.

Participants must have suitable clothing for any weather, including rain. As a rule, the participants will be at sea on every day of the course. If this is not possible owing to the weather, programme that supports the course targets will be organised on shore.

Cancellation and changing of registration

Any cancellation must occur at least two weeks before the course is due to start, with 50% of the course fee refunded. No refund will be made if cancellations occur later than this. A course/camp will go ahead if the minimum number of participants specified for it have registered.
