Bergholmen will be opened for members on 13.6.2025

EPS’s new island base Bergholmen will be opened for members’ use on 13.6.2025. Bergholmen is located in Kirkkonummi, just over 7 nautical miles from the home harbor and just over a kilometer west of Stora Herrö. The island has docks on both the south and north sides, and you can find links to approach maps on the website’s member section. On the island, we have access to 2 saunas, a small cabin, a grill shelter, and 2 composting dry toilets. The cabin has electricity, but there is no dock electricity on the island. There is also a water maker on the island, which provides fresh water for sauna use. However, the water has not been tested, so please do not use it as drinking water.

During the opening weekend (13.-15.6.), a firewood work party will be organized on the island. In the work party, 21 m3 of firewood will be carried into place and trash will be cleaned from the shore. The island hosts may have other small tasks available. Work will begin on Friday at 19-21. The main work party will be on Saturday from 10-16. On Sunday, the work party continues at 10, if there is still work to be done. The island’s saunas are available for shared use by the work party participants throughout the weekend. Therefore, private shifts cannot be booked. Sign up for the work party and opening ceremony here, so that the catering can be appropriately sized.

The island’s opening ceremony and ceremonial flag raising will begin on Sat 14.6. at 18:00. At the same time, a toast will be raised in honor of the island’s opening. Note: bring your own glasses!

During the opening weekend (13.-15.6.), all EPS members are welcome to freely explore the island, and no seasonal fee is required. Also, for the Midsummer weekend (19.-22.6.), the island can be accessed without a season fee. At other times, an island sticker must be obtained before landing on the island.
